What is Zumba?
Zumba is one of the fastest growing fitness classes in the world. Zumba is like no other workout you will ever experience! The word "Zumba" comes from a Colombian word that means to move fast and have fun, which is just how people describe the routine. Using upbeat Latin music together with cardiovascular exercise, Zumba is aerobic dancing that is lots of fun and easy to learn.
Is Zumba Good for Weight Loss?
Zumba seems to be an optimal fitness choice, mixing cardio intervals with resistance training. Many experts believe that an interval/resistance combination maximizes caloric output, fat burning, and total body toning. Zumba mixes effective body sculpting movements with easy-to-follow, fun dance steps. People seem to forget about working out during a Zumba session, allowing them to exercise longer, and burn even more calories.
What's a Zumba Class Like?
A typical Zumba session lasts about an hour and incorporates several dance styles, including cumbia, merengue, salsa, reggaeton, mambo, rumba, flamenco, calypso and bhangra. The Latin music includes both fast and slow rhythms, allowing for a great cardio workout as well as body sculpting exercises. Depending on the release, you may even get a taste of belly dancing or hip-hop dancing, too.
Is Zumba for Me?
If you enjoy high energy, motivating music, and like to try unique moves and combinations, Zumba may be your ticket to fitness. It is suitable for all fitness levels, you do not have to be able to dance, just move to the music and watch! Over a few weeks you will easily remember moves and relax into the workout, letting yourself be you! It’s all about having fun and working out with your own style!

What is Zumba Toning?
Zumba Toning combines targeted body sculpting exercises and high energy cardio work with Latin infused Zumba moves to create a calorie burning, strength training dance fitness class, with the emphasis on toning and sculpting the body.
It is set at a slower pace than Zumba dance and uses light weight, maraca like toning sticks to enhance rhythm and tone all those target zones, including arms, abs, butts, thighs, shoulders and backs, providing targeted toning for those hard to reach areas!! Created to emphasize muscle work along with rhythms, this combination of cardio and dymanic resistive exercises is an effective use of lightweight training to improve your whole body shape!
We still use the great Latin inspired rhythms we know and love, with Zumba music specifically written for Zumba Toning, incorporating Latin disco, Reggaeton-Cumbia, Conga Hip Hop, Merengue, Techno and of course Salsa.
Your Zumba Toning class will be divided into Dance and Circuit tracks. In "Dance" tracks, we work to specific dance rhythms, using controlled movements to tone and strengthen specific targeted body zones. During a "circuit" track, we have stick and non stick dance rhythms at a slightly higher pace to increase the heart rate, keeping heart rate elevated within training ranges. Your Zumba class will consist of 5 "Dance" Toning tracks and 2 "Circuit" tracks. We will also include at least one cardio Zumba track without weights, and some lower body isolation work to finish, to really make sure we have targeted those hips, thighs and mid sections!
Please be advised Zumba Toning is only suitable for those 16 years and over, due to the muscle work.
Zumba Toning requires the use of Zumba Toning sticks, which can be purchased from your instructor when booking your class. The weights consist of two 1lb sticks especially made for Zumba Toning. Alternatively you may bring your own pair of dumbells which have a similar training effect but these must not weight more than 1lb each. However you will be restricted in the moves which can be performed if using dumbells.
